The
Roger Rawson lifting combine is going on from 3/5/13 to 3/8/13. In these three
days any students will test their strength in three different lifting exercises
to see what the maximum weight they can lift. The three exercises were being
tested are bench press, squat and dead lift. The top 3 lifters over all pounds
for pound where Alec Bush, Zach Clark and the winner over all was Adam Raymond. All three of these impressive student
athletes made it into the 1,000 pound club. The 1,000 pound club is an exclusive
club for student athletes whose combined weight sum in all three lifting events
equal 1,000 or more. After talking to the winner Adam Raymond he said that
he was proud of getting into the 1,000 club and being the overall pound for
pound winner, and is excited to test next year to try and beat his record so
that he can come in first once again.

preseason is here
On Monday 2/24/13 there was a great
preseason run for any Homer high school student athlete who wants to
play lacrosse or get in shape. This run was not mandatory but was
very much so encouraged but the 3 team captains, Alec Sovocool, Beau
Riley and Jon Cottrell. After talking to them they said that the point of the
run wasn't to get the team in shape but it was a good way for some
preseason team bonding. This was only one of the many team bonding activities that
will be happening this season, for instance there will be a “football/ turf
clean up” on Friday 3/1/13. This is
following the same leadership that was left by senior last year Anthony
Contento who believed strongly in team bonding and team activities in hope to unify
the team.
